Cutting Areas: Match Your Projects and Your Space
The cutting area defines the largest piece of material your Fusion Pro CNC can handle — and it’s one of the most important decisions you’ll make. Smaller work envelopes are perfect for compact shops, sign making, and detailed 3D carving. Larger formats unlock ambitious projects like full cabinet doors, large signage, and furniture components.
Remember: the machine’s footprint is about 20 inches larger in each direction than its cutting area. Plan your space carefully so your workflow stays smooth and your shop uncluttered.
How to choose? Think about the biggest pieces you’ll regularly work with. If you want flexibility for furniture or commercial projects, size up. If space is tight and your work leans toward smaller, detailed parts, a compact cutting area saves room while still delivering professional results.
Motor Types: Hybrid Steppers vs. ClearPath Servos
Standard Hybrid Steppers (NEMA 34)
Reliable, affordable, and easy to maintain. These closed-loop steppers deliver steady torque at lower speeds and automatically correct for missed steps with their built-in encoders. They’re a great choice for hobbyists and light professional work.
ClearPath Servos
American-made ClearPath servos are a serious upgrade, providing smoother, quieter motion, higher precision, and torque that holds across a wide speed range. They never lose steps and are built for heavy-duty, high-speed, and complex 3D carving work.
Why upgrade? If your projects demand production-level reliability, intricate 3D detail, or aggressive cutting speeds, ClearPath servos boost both productivity and accuracy — making them a worthwhile investment for professionals.
Spindle Options: 24,000 RPM vs. 18,000 RPM
2.2kW • 24,000 RPM (Air-Cooled)
Perfect for detail-oriented work, engraving, and smooth 3D carving. The higher RPM supports smaller tools, delivering crisp edges in woods, plastics, and foams. Efficient at lighter loads and ideal when speed and detail matter most.
4.0kW • 18,000 RPM (Air-Cooled)
Built for torque and power. Handles hardwoods, composites, and aluminum without stalling. Lower RPM but higher torque means deeper cuts, longer tool life, and consistent results under demanding loads.
Why Air-Cooled?
Simple, reliable, and virtually maintenance-free. Air-cooled spindles require no pumps, hoses, or coolant — just plug in and run. This makes them durable and easy to maintain for most shops.
Which is right for you? Choose the 24,000 RPM spindle for fine detail and engraving. Opt for the 18,000 RPM spindle when you need raw torque and confidence in heavy-duty projects.
Vertical Work Holding: Unlock More Possibilities
The optional vertical workholding system is a game-changer. It mounts to the front of your Fusion Pro CNC and securely clamps material vertically — giving you access to edges and ends of your workpiece for complex machining.
What can you do with it? Cut dovetails, mortises, and traditional joinery directly into board ends. Machine long panels or doors that don’t fit flat. Expand your 3D carving by machining multiple faces of material without awkward repositioning.
Why invest? This is not just a clamp — it’s a precision-engineered, heavy-duty system built to stay rigid under real cutting forces. For cabinet makers, furniture builders, and pro shops, it saves setup time and makes advanced operations possible that simply can’t be done on a flat table.
